It's all about Jesus

We can never be immune to the intellectual and spiritual pressures of our time. This is easy to see as we look back at previous generations, but so difficult to recognize in ourselves. We inevitably reflect the culture we live in. And whether we like it or not, our faith has been shaped by methods, teachings, philosophies of our time, more than what the Word of God says, more than what Jesus, the Son of God, said.

But, faith should not be like that. At the end of the day, if He is God, as He is, then, does it not make sense that our life be centred around Jesus?

It's all about Jesus.

We are saved by Jesus.

We are called and empowered to walk worthy of Jesus.

We are made alive, freed, and clothed by Jesus.

We suffer for Jesus. It’s all about Him.

So often the Bible is looked to as a blueprint for how to live life. We miss that it is actually a blueprint to receive life. It’s not about you. It’s not about me. It’s all about Jesus.
It’s time to realign your focus. It’s time to know the core of what faith is all about. It’s time to focus on the centre so that the peripheral falls away. It is time to come back to Jesus.

What does this mean for me?

The bible teaches that everyone is born in sin and cut from connection with God. Everyone tends to do their own thing and forget about Creator God’s rule over their lives. The sad thing is that this has serious consequences in the world around us and in each and every life. There is enjoyment and good things in this life but they are often overshadowed by pain, selfish behaviour, loneliness, bereavement and evil. The reason for these bad things and more is that we and others do our own thing and leave God to one side.

However God wants each one of us to be connected to God and the bible talks about his followers being his children. None of us are born Christians or connected to God, but instead a conscious life decision needs to be made to follow him. This is something that is described in many ways such as “Coming to Faith in Jesus”, “Being Born Again”, “Being Saved” or “Being Made Alive in Christ”

How do you receive the new life that God wants to give you through His Son,
Jesus Christ?
Admit your sin.
Tell God you are sorry and ask Him to help you to change. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23).

Believe on Christ. He died on the cross for you. He came back to life to give you a new life. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).

Consider the cost. Follow Jesus from now on, with Him in charge. “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation” (Rom. 10:9,10).

Do something about it! Even though in the past you went your own way, now it is time to give your life over to God. Pray and ask Him to help you live as one of His followers:

Dear God, I admit that I have lived my own way for so long. In my thoughts, words and deeds I have sinned against You. Please, forgive me. Thank you for sending Jesus to die for me. Thank you that He rose again to give me a new start and a new life. Help me to follow You from now on with Christ Jesus at the centre of my life. Amen.
